In Home Newborn Photography Cairns | A Relaxed Lifestyle Session Before Christmas
Just before Christmas, I had the absolute pleasure of returning to photograph this beautiful family in their Cairns home. I have known Isabel for around 9 years when she worked at my favourite farm veg shop serving up my daily juice and I was lucky to photograph her first newborn, who is now a busy, confident toddler. Being invited back to document this next chapter with their newest little love was incredibly special.
This session was an older newborn session, which is something I often photograph and truly love. Older newborns are more alert, smile lots, have little chats and naturally settle into their parents’ arms rather than sleepy, posed setups. It creates a calm, honest feel that reflects what life really looks like with a growing family.
A Lifestyle Newborn Session at Home
From the beginning, this family wanted their session to focus on simply being together. No rushing, no posing, just slow moments of cuddles, reading books on the couch, and soaking in time as a family of four. They are a quiet loving family and spend lots of their spare time out in nature, camping.

Isabel and Jai actually rented this property and asked that we didn’t include many aspects of the actual home, but still lots of togetherness
Capturing the Toddler Connection
One of Mum’s biggest wishes for this session was to capture her toddler and partner playing guitar together. Music is something they genuinely enjoy as a family, and their toddler even has a tiny mini guitar of his own.
Little fingers strumming strings, big smiles, and shared laughter. Photographing sibling connections and parent-child bonds like this is at the heart of lifestyle newborn photography. These aren’t moments you need to recreate; they already exist beautifully in your everyday life.
