To be honest with you, I could probably name a lot of blog posts ‘A newborn photoshoot with a toddler who wasn’t keen’!
Toddlers know their own minds. The younger the toddler is the easier it can be because they just like to be cuddled and are pretty interested in the tricks I have up my sleeve. Once they get to maybe 2 and a half, ‘no’ is a word used quite often!
I really think it’s important to reassure families with posts like these (and I’m always so grateful to parents who allow me to share for this reason), because when your toddler knows their own mind, it can worry you that you won’t be able to have a photoshoot filled with lovely photos.
Now, fortunately Tegan and Sean have met me before. I photographed their now toddler as a newborn, and also a Mothers Day photoshoot. So they knew they could trust me.
Tegan did mention that Seb hadn’t really shown an interest in his new Brother so she wasn’t really expecting any sibling photos. So, challenge accepted for me!
I have worked with children my whole career. From studying child development, to teaching children about oral health, to foster children living in my home for years. I like to think I know all the tricks in the book.
There was no way I was leaving their house without a sibling photo!!
So this particular morning I think I tried every single trick ever. Seb actually didn’t want to be part of ANY of the photos! He was polite about it, haha, but quite adamant that No thanks, I’m quite happy not being a part of whatever it is you think you can get from me!
Well, without giving away all of my secrets, lets just say it worked out and here are my favourites from their gallery
I hope this reassures you and thankfully we got so many with Tegan and Seans gorgeous boys 🙂
