If you are looking for fun family photography in Far North Queensland, you’re in the right place! Today I’m sharing 5 fun props to include in your family session.

So many family traditions centre around the activities we do and the time we share together. I love including fun props in my family sessions. I want you and your children to remember all the fun times you have together.

With an endless summer here in Cairns and the surrounds, most of us are in our pool year round. Lots of families also travel here on holidays to escape the winters down south. Brr! Grab a fun brightly coloured pool floatie and include it in your session. Whether in your pool, at the creek or in the ocean in dry season, you’re guaranteed some genuine laughs, and who doesn’t want to show their children how much fun you had together during their childhood! Kmart has some great character floaties like flamingos or Sunny Life Australia.

Hammocks are great for lots of things. Hang one between two palms to really add a taste of the tropics to your session, snuggle, swing your children, play peek-a-boo. Such a fun way to add genuine connection into your family photos!

Whose childhood isn’t spent riding around on something with wheels! Bikes, Scooters, Skateboards, Rollerskates! These are all fun items you are bound to already have at home. Run after your kids, ride the back of the scooter, hold their hands as they skate along the(or maybe skate with them). Choose a location suited best to your family. This could be riding along a path by the beach under the palms, playing on your street outside your house, visiting the local park. So many fun options!

Hands up if your partner would agree to family photos if you told him he could bring the fishing rod! Heaps of families love fishing here in the tropics. It doesn’t need to be anything extravagant. Just take your rods off a quiet beach or off the jetty at Palm Cove. While you’re waiting for the next catch we can sneak in those family photos and also document the fun you had together. There’s also a great guaranteed catch and day of fun with Grab a Barra at Yorkeys Knob and Hook A Barra at Wonga Beach! Far North Queensland was made for fun and adventure and I’m here to capture it all for you.

Ok, if you’re here, you’re a parent. This means you are likely making 3 million snacks a day and your world is centred around what you’re having for dinner. But all jokes aside, food is the centre of Family. It’s where we get together, chat about the day, share memories and spend quality time together. Finish your session, or maybe even have this as the focus of your session with FOOD! Pizza night, ice cream, a bbq while you play some handball in the yard. So many happy memories are made around food and I love including that in family sessions.

That is just five ideas!

You could have marshmallows around a camp fire, chase each other with water guns or water balloons, set up a slip and slide, do some craft together, bake or cook together. So many ideas for families of all ages! What would you add?

We create meaningful family photos around here and if that is for you, you can contact me here or view my pricing here.
