What better excuse to get together with your loved ones, than the arrival of a new baby?

As an adult, it gets harder to prioritise friends and family because everyday life just seems to take over.

This week I am sharing 20 fun baby shower game ideas for your next baby shower.

  1. Guess who?

What will I need?

  • A baby photo of each guest. These need to be numbered
  • Pen or pencil
  • Numbered blank list for each guest

How to play:

Each guest attending your baby shower will need to bring along a baby photo of themselves. You can ask them to do this when you send out your invites. Collect everyones photos when they arrive and put them up around the venue with numbers on them. Give each guest a numbered list where they can write their guess of which baby photo belongs to which guest. Collect them all at the end and you could give a prize to the person with the most correct guesses!

2. Don’t say ‘baby’

What will I need?

  • 5 small pegs per guest

How to play:

As each guest arrives, give them 5 small pegs to place on their clothing. Tell them that through the baby shower, they MUST NOT say ‘baby’! (This is harder than you think!) Have everyone attending listen out, and if they hear someone say ‘baby’, they must take away one of their pegs. The person who has collected the most pegs at the end of the baby shower is the winner! This game is great for getting everyone interacting in a fun way, especially if all the guests don’t know each other at the start.

3. Because I said so!

What will I need?

  • Pen or pencil
  • Paper slip for each guest
  • A bowl or similar to collect the slips

How to play:

Ask each guest to write a saying they commonly heard from their parents when they were a child. (Because I said so, I’ll tell you when you grow up etc) Fold the slips and add to the bowl. Ask each guest to draw one slip and see if they can guess who wrote it. (This is funny if the guest now uses the same ‘annoying’ phrase their parents did with their own children!

4. My waters broke!

What will I need?

  • Ice cube trays
  • Small plastic babies (one for each guest)

How to play:

In the lead up to the baby shower, place the babies into ice cube trays, pour water over them and freeze. As the guests arrive and get a drink, give them a baby filled ice cube to put in it. (This will need to be done at the same time to make it fair). Once the ice has melted, the first person to shout ‘My waters broke’ is the winner!

5. Dough babies

What will I need?

  • Play dough in different colours
  • Utensils to shape and design

How to play:

Give each guest some different coloured play dough and various utensils (Plastic knives etc). Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and see who can make the cutest play dough baby. Get the Mum to be to choose the winner!

6. Guess the birth date

What will I need?

  • Calendar of the due date month
  • Pen or pencil

How to play:

This is always a popular one to play at a baby shower. Have the guests guess the due date of the baby and write it on the calendar. The prize is given (after baby is born) to the person who guesses the correct date, or closest to it.

7. Guess the birth weight

What will I need?

  • Pen or pencil
  • Sheet of paper

How to play:

The same concept as guess the birth date, but guests are guessing the birth weight. Have them write it down on a sheet of paper and as before, the person who guesses the correct weight (or closest to it) wins a prize after baby is born.

8. Decorate a baby item

What will I need?

  • Plain vest, bib etc
  • Fabric markers

How to play:

Not every baby shower needs to be a competition. Help make some keepsakes for the Mum to be by asking the guests to design their own baby item. From vests to bibs, it will make a lovely gift for the Mum to keep and remember a special time.

9. Baby word scramble

What will I need?

  • A list of scrambled baby related words (Nappy, Breast feeding, Bottle, Hospital, Birth Suite etc)
  • Pens or pencils
  • Timer

How to play:

Choose around 10-15 words associated with having a baby and write them down on sheets of paper for the guests scrambled up. Set a timer for 5 minutes and ask the guests to write down the actual words. The person who unscrambles the most in 5 minutes wins.

10. Fun facts about Mum to be

What will I need?

  • Pens or pencils
  • A list of questions about the Mum to be

How to play:

Prepare a list of questions about the Mum to be (Where did her and the Dad to be meet, Where was she born etc). At the baby shower, have the Mum to be read out the questions and have the guests call out the answers. The person with the most correct guesses at the end, wins!

I hope that has given you some fun ideas for your next baby shower! Let me know if you play any, or have any of your own favourites in the comments below!
