Today, on the blog, I have a guest appearance from the very beautiful Shae, of Tropical Beauty Hair and Make Up. She is offering some tips to prepare for professional hair and make up. Shae loves to enhance your face with a natural, but made up look.
When it comes to having professional photo’s taken, whether it be updating your family album, celebrating your new engagement or your wedding day, having your hair and make up done professionally can give your pictures that wow factor. They know how to contour correctly to enhance your natural beauty, and work alongside photographers regularly. Just like photographers, make up artists have their own style too. Depending on the look you are going for, one artist may be able to provide more of a glamour look, whereas another may give a more natural look.
Over to Shae 🙂
Tip One: In the week leading up to your shoot, moisturise your skin daily. Moisturiser will boost hydration and ensure your skin glows on camera. It is also a great idea to use micellar water daily. The idea is that the micelles are attracted to dirt and oil so they are able to draw out impurities without drying out the skin, leaving it perfectly prepped and glowing.
Tip Two: Another good idea to prepare for your photo shoot, is to use a sheet mask the morning of your shoot. This will give your skin next level hydration and leave your skin luminous. Leave the sheet mask on for 10-15 minutes for optimal skin glow.
Tip Three: Don’t neglect your hair! The week before your photo shoot use a nourishing, deep conditioning treatment on your hair. This will ensure healthy and strong hair for the me to work with.
Tip Four: It is always a good idea to have a haircut prior to the shoot to keep your hair looking tidy and fresh and if you colour your hair make sure this has also been freshly done the week prior.
Tip Five: If you want to get a spray tan to prepare for your photo shoot, it is recommended you do this 2-3 days beforehand. This allows time for the tan to settle and look natural on camera. A tan is not a necessity, but some people choose to get a spray tan or use gradual self-tanner to make their skin look golden and glowing in photos.
I am happy to look after your tanning needs if required.
Prior to a tan exfoliate your skin. Make sure you are exfoliating your skin 2-3 times a week before your tan. When you exfoliate your skin, you remove the dead skin cells on the top layer of you skin. Exfoliation exposes the fresh, healthy skin underneath in preparation for your tan to go on nice and evenly.
Tip Six:I would recommend you to arrive to me with dry, clean, moisturised skin in preparation for a flawless foundation. Hair needs to be freshly washed, preferably the night before and blow waved smooth ready for me to work their magic.
Tip Seven: If you decide to have your eyebrows waxed or threaded, be sure to schedule the appointment for at least a few days before your photoshoot. Otherwise, an eyebrow trim/touch up at home could be done a day or two before the shoot.
Now you are ready to feel the best you can for a fun session of photos.
Thanks so much Shae! Some great tips there on how you can prepare your skin and hair!
