Today I’m so excited to share the Krafts endless summer vibes maternity session.
It’s easy to think that maternity photography needs to be about wandering down the beach hand in hand, but we are all about tailoring the session to suit the personalities of your family here at Lizzy Hannaford Photography.
Hannah, Simon and Mahli love spending time in their gorgeous caravan that Simon renovated exploring everything that far North Queensland has to offer. So we definitely had to include that in their maternity session. They also love summer (and winter) days swimming in their pool at home. Being the perfect handyman (You can contact Simon here) their house is also beautifully styled! Mahli’s bedroom and their new baby’s nursery are just divine!! Check out the decor in their photos below!
Hannah has a real eye for detail and had mocktails planned for lounging by the pool, couples maternity photos in front of their leafy wallpaper in the lounge and we also included her own business too. Her Tropical Goddess sarongs. They are the perfect blend of fashion and function for your day at the beach, and if you know Cairns, it’s beach weather all year round! (View her collection of sarongs here)
I think it’s always good to mention that behind every session that includes a living breathing human, is always a little curve ball. Little Mahli has been needing a small Power Nap in the mornings, and just so happened to be getting really tired during their session. Simon stepped in and drove her round the block for 10 minutes to give her the boost she needed, which gave me chance to take some photos of Hannah and her growing bump while they were gone. These things happen, and can feel really stressful for parents during a photoshoot, but it’s much better to adapt accordingly and have a fun session, than to feel stressed and under pressure.
The other contender was the rain we woke up to. Not exactly endless summer vibes! But we decided to power through and laugh it off. There’s always a trusty Bunnings umbrella if we needed! We got a few spits here and there during the session but otherwise, the sun briefly popped out and we had an overcast morning. The bonus of being in the tropics is, at least it’s warm rain!
It was a really relaxed morning capturing their maternity photos in their home and I loved that everything was really ‘them’.
Here are my favourite photos from their maternity session. I’ll warn you, there are a lot of them!
