Mini sessions in Cairns – December
Well this months mini sessions in Cairns were particularly damp and humid! It was a typical wet season day.
I spent the majority of it watching the radar and looking at all the weather reports to see if the rain would hold off for the couple of hours I’d be on the beach taking photos of some brave families!
The weather had been so unpredictable for a few days. It was so hard to judge what might happen.
It got to an hour before the mini sessions were about to start and things were looking grim. Thunder had started and in one direction was a small patch of blue sky, while the rest of the sky was filled with grey clouds full of rain!
I started calling around my families. I knew that most people would have started getting ready by now and some might have even left their houses to head to the beach but I wanted to give everyone one last opportunity.
Everyone decided they wanted to risk it, so risk it we did!

I headed down to the beach, umbrella in hand. Goodness me it was humid!
Just as I got started with the first family, the rain began. THANKFULLY it was mostly drizzle, but part of me did panic. Could it get heavier?!
We continued on and a few families in it did eventually stop. Phew!
6 lovely mini sessions and all the families were troopers!
Thank you so much to the families who have kindly allowed me to share their session with you today. It can be such a hard decision these days, but it allows me to show other families what they can expect from their mini session.
The biggest thank you goes out to everyone on the day though. Thank you for braving the weather, trusting me with your family’s memories and embracing the 15 minutes of what can feel like chaos to get the shot!
