I’m so excited to share Libby and Jordan’s in home newborn session with you today!
I first met Libby and Jordan for their beach maternity session (You can see that session by clicking here). They’re a really lovely relaxed family and were excited to enjoy some quality on the beach with their little boy Jacob before the new arrival.
Apart from the obvious reasons for having a maternity session, it really helps prior to a newborn session.
Expectant parents can get to know me in a slightly lower stress environment, so that when they are recovering from birth, exhausted and experiencing changes in family dynamics, they already feel comfortable.
During a newborn session it is highly likely you will need time to feed your new baby, and it’s also much nicer doing that in front of someone you have already met.
I arrived at Libby and Jordan’s home on the morning of their newborn session to be greeted by just that. Little Oscar was enjoying a lovely long feed.
This actually works really well when siblings are involved, because it meant I got to just sit and play with Jacob while his new baby brother fed.
It can be a big change for older siblings when a new baby comes along, so having a bit of time without a camera in my face can be a great way for them to feel comfortable.
Once Libby had finished feeding Oscar, I got to work on as many images as I could that required Jacob. Little ones tend to lose interest first, so I wanted to still catch him while he wanted to be part of it.
I’m not a fan of bribery, so we played some little games to get the images I wanted to capture.
After we did sibling photos and family photos, Jacob was excited to show me his big boy room, so we headed there so he could bounce on his bed!
We got some shots In the room set up for baby Oscar and then while Libby gave him another feed, Jordan and Jacob headed out onto their veranda with the (worlds best) trike! (It’s the world’s best because they cost around $12 and they’re great for kids from about 1 until forever!!)
Libby and Oscar joined us for some playtime at the end and then I headed home.
I really loved being a part of them growing their little family. I hope you love their photos as much as I do!
