Today, I’m excited to share with you Katie and Darrens family photoshoot at home in Cairns. Machans beach to be exact.
The family invited me in to their beautiful home on the beach in Machans Beach, Cairns, to capture some natural family photos.
When I arrived, they were happily playing with magnetic tiles on the rug, so I got straight in with capturing some natural photos of them playing.
Katie had filled out their questionnaire with some photos they’d love to have captured around their home and in the garden so we prioritised those throughout the session. My sessions are all play based, and nothing is forced. I love to follow the Childs lead and quickly get to know their personality so that I can capture natural photographs in an efficient manner. Time is of the essence when it comes to children.
Parents usually let me know whether their children can be shy upon meeting, and time is always allowed for this. However, their family warmed to me quickly, which as you can see allowed for some really natural smiles.
It’s starting to warm up here in Cairns now, so having a family photoshoot at home means air conditioning! We did make a short trip to the beach for a couple of photos though. Luckily, their house is just a few metres away, because that morning was particularly hot!
