Today, I’m so excited to share Emma and Kyle’s newborn session at home in port Douglas.
When Emma contacted me, she explained that she would be moving house and could we do the photos before she moved.
Totally. All we need is a window.
Well, they say moving house and having a baby are 2 of life’s most stressful events. Honestly, I was expecting to walk into a house with a completely overwhelmed first time Mum, trying to learn life with her new baby whilst also preparing to move her entire life.
But what I was met with, were two parents who you’d think were on their 5th child. Calm. Relaxed. (Although maybe 5th time parents aren’t relaxed 😉 but they do know what they’re doing) welcoming and you’d never know they were in the middle of a move.
Some people were just absolutely meant to be parents, and Emma and Kyle are two of them!
I wanted to share that they were imminently moving house, because lots of people are nervous that their home isn’t suitable for a newborn Photoshoot. We did their entire shoot from their bed, using one wrap that I brought with me to keep little Juno feeling secure while being passed back and forth more than she would be on a normal day, a gorgeous basket she sleeps in and the one window.
The rest of the house could have been falling down around them and you’d never know!
The second thing I wanted to mention was that Emma had let me know that their dog wasn’t keen on the camera. She’d love some photos with Louie involved, but she completely understood that newborns and animals were unpredictable and we would just try our best.
As predicted, little Louie was scared Everytime I picked up my camera, and entered protective mode. But I did have a small window at the beginning where he was actually ok and I’m glad I listened to my instincts to get him involved while he seemed interested. The result, you’ll see in the photos 😊
I’ll be sharing the photos from their newborn photoshoot in just a moment, but I hope that both a little back story and the variety we captured in the photos, reassures you that you don’t always need a huge styled house to have beautiful photos (though I do say so myself!!) and that not everyone needs to be fully on board with photos for everything to work out just fine. There’s always going to be an exception, but this time we got lucky.
Please join me in congratulating Emma and Kyle on becoming parents, and wish them luck in their move. Here are my favourites from their session:
