Cairns Maternity Photographer | 5 Reasons To Have A Maternity Session
The chances are, if you are reading a post about 5 reasons to have a maternity session, then you are feeling hesitant.
I think it’s completely understandable. Once you’ve had children, it can be seen as having a family shoot, with the added bonus of having a baby bump! But what about if it’s just you, your partner and your growing tummy?
At this point in time I am currently pregnant with my third child. While pregnancy can bring with it a rollercoaster of emotions, for me, I love thinking about how clever our bodies are to grow another person.
While some women feel at their worst during pregnancy, lots of women actually feel more confident.
Either way, I have ladies come to me who all feel differently about their bodies changing. Some want to be photographed because they feel amazing, powerful and beautiful. Others want to do it to have the photos to show their baby on the way, and some begrudgingly do it because deep down, however hard it is, they don’t want to forget this milestone.
My girls LOVE looking through our family albums. They especially love seeing themselves in Mummy’s tummy. (They even love watching their birth videos!)
Today I want to talk about the 5 reasons I think it’s important to have a maternity session.
- For your children – I know I mentioned it above, but I definitely think this needs to be included as 1 of the 5 reasons to have a maternity session. Children love to hear about where they came from and how they’ve changed over the years.
- To remember this season – It may feel like your pregnancy is lasting forever, but I promise once it’s over you’ll soon forget how you looked and how it felt. Photos are a great way to jog your memory 🙂
- A professional will make you feel AMAZING – A professional photographer is trained in using light, camera angles, particular lenses and posing to ensure you look your very best. While phones are great for capturing regular moments, there’s nothing like letting someone else do all the hard work
- Not all photos are the same – Depending on your personality and how you feel about your pregnancy, you can be photographed accordingly. Some women like traditional maternity portraits, some like glamorous photos and others want to remember the shape of their body but maybe not as a portrait. This will be discussed with me prior to your session so that we can capture photos that make you feel how you deserve. You never know, you may even surprise yourself. I’ve had some ladies come in saying that long flowy gowns don’t suit them, then when they see themselves they are actually their favourites!
- To share with family – Lots of people these days live far away from family members. Maternity photos are a great way to share this exciting time with people you don’t get to see regularly. Whether you share them on social media, or send them a mini album, it’s guaranteed to make them smile and feel closer to you
Have you had maternity photos before and loved them? Did you not have maternity photos taken and regret it? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments below!
